depends on the kind you have mechanical or hydrolic
there is a screw of some sort that adjusts the tension of pads right by the pads that you should loosen, if mechanical you twist the little thing right by the lever that could also work
if not just go to the bike shop they will show you what to do for the future and adjust it so everythign works great
