How to transfer music files ripped by windows media player into Itunes?

I ripped all of my cd's using windows media player. I now have an ipod and would like to transfer all of those songs into Itunes. I've tried adding folder, but it only takes certain folders. My tree is desktop> music> Artist> then sub-folders of each artist's different albums. On top of that it duplicates some 3 times. Please help Mr. or Mrs. Itunes expert
It's not that easy to re-rip 30 gigs of cd's...
 
go to one of the upper header things that has a drop down menu. i think its called "file". and click import files. when you import the files make sure you're importing .mp3 or .wav files.
