how to transfer files to HTC HD2?

I have an HTC HD2 and a Macbook. For the life of me I can't figure out how to transfer files to my phone. I'm using a USB chord and when I plug in my phone I can see it in Finder but the folders/files don't match what is shown in file explorer on my phone. When I move the file I want to my phone I can't find it anywhere even with a search. The same is true if I search for a file I know is on my phone using Finder. This is infuriating beyond belief someone please help!!!
