i recently bought some mickey mouse platy. i had 4 but one of them jumped out overnight and died :(, ( dont worry i have covered the top of the tank.) so i have 3 left and i want to know how to tell which one is male and which are female, or if all are the same.
any advice on how to tell and advice for breeding them, would be appreciated.

Easy with platies and any live bearer really. Males have a modified anal fin called a gonopodium. Its located under there belly between two smaller fins and in a way is the fishes penis :s also males tend to be smaller than females.
Soz to hear bout the other ones. Suicidal fish tutut =P

The female will have a fanned out anal fin (this is located at where the poop comes out) and the male's will be straighter and not fanned out.
Here is some info on breeding:

Use the site, it has given me over 100 guppy and platy fry (babies)
Good luck!

males are bigger and bettas are wawsy to breed and ea sell for 1$ ea so 500$ fast get a dicider 10 gallon tank and female and male let them flare for 1 hour relaease divider watch them for and our dont leave then TAKE OUT FEMALE nipping and flaring is ok but serious bites are bad so stap breedint for 5 days leave the male in then when fry swim independently REMOVE THE MALE HE WILL EAT EVERYONE in 2 months they will start to look like betta and u can sell to local pet store. . yay

depends on the type of fish.

usually the male is bigger and has colorful patterns.
the female is smaller and has less patterns.
