How to tell if the break switch is good or bad 1999 Honda Civic?

I have an OHM meter but I do not know what to set it to to check. The Break switch is out of the car. Thank you for any tips or suggestions.
 
Go across the two connector wires with the meter in ohm, actuate the switch and it should go to no resistance. If the meter stays at 1 the switch is bad. Touch the leads to each other to ensure the meter is good, should go to 0, 0.4 or something like that. If the meter stays at 1 it is not working.
