A couple days ago, our 15 year old knocked over my nightstand lamp onto the bed (in anger) and broke the bulb. It was one of those round regular bulbs. There was a white powdery substance when I cleaned it up. I just picked up the pieces and threw them in the garbage, then vacuumed off the smaller pieces. It didn't occur to me that it might contain mercury. I am washing the sheets now, but how can I be sure it had mercury? And what can I do in case we have been exposed?
