I've recently bought a Canon SLR that I'm loving, and I'm trying to learn all the manual settings (so much to take in). But one thing I can't seem to do is take a sharp image when people are moving. I've tried to increase my shutter speed but the picture just comes out black because obviously not enough light is getting in. I have my aperture set low, (f4 or f5-ish), and my ISO, varies depending on what light I'm in. It seems that any high shutter speed doesn't work. Most of the pics I'm taking are at night (like my sister graduation) in artificial light.
What am I doing wrong?
It's a digital 500D camera. The ISO varies (indoors) from 800 to 3200
Please don't write silly things like "tell them to stop moving"... It's the way I'm using my CAMERA that I need help with.
And I have been increasing the shutter speed... but then the photo turns out black, or barely any light at all. In theory it makes sense, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
