How to take off the front sprocket on a mongoose bmx bike?

i have a mongoose ridicule bmx bike and the sporcket is brocken because the pin on the pedal slipped out of the hole in the sprocket and made gouges all the way around the sprocket and im trying to get it off to get a new one so far all i can do knock the pedals loose from the bike
