im thinking about getting a mazda rx8.
i need to know how much it will be to take care of.
it is used so it needs to have some things replaced but im not to worried about that.
does it use a wholee lot of gas?
does it need certain gas?
does it use certain oil?
(i know i have to change the oil alot)
where can i get it fixed if ever needed?
do most people work on rotary engines?
is the insurance very very high?
i will use it about every day to get to school and back and to friends houses,,ect.
i just need to know steps on how to take care of it.and to make it last a long time.
and any advise from people who have one would be great.
thanks.

They look cool, but are junk. The rotary engines are very unreliable and usually detonate at about 60,000-80,000 miles. They are expensive to repair and maintain. They eat oil like crazy and if you do not let them run for a few minutes after you park the car the spark plugs get very easily fouled. As far as fuel mileage goes, there are cars that have V8 engines that get better fuel economy.

If you are on a budget stay away from it. Here are what some of the parts for the car cost without tax or labor.

Alternator = $600
Transmission= $3500
Radiator = $450
Air conditioning condensor = $350
Air conditioning compressor = $700
The headlamps are $1000 each
