How to switch Nokia 2865i from Metro to Cricket?

I got Metro service in Orlando, and bought the Nokia 2865i, which is a good enough phone for me. Problem is, I moved to Santa Fe, NM, and obviously Metro doesn't serve that area, let alone that state. My question is, after speaking to a CSR at Cricket and giving him my phone's ESN, he confirmed that it would work if I could unlock it (which I believe I can do myself) and take it to a Cricket store to have them flash it (Yes, he SAID "flash it." Wow! Metro CSRs wouldn't know what the hell that even meant!).

So my question is, DO I have to have them flash it? I mean, I hate the Metro branding and all, but I hear I have to pay them for it. And I heard about just loading a "prl" to it so it would detect Cricket towers. How can I do that? I already have the cable and software for Windows, but is there software available for Mac OS X to do it? (all I have access to right now is a Macbook).

Thanks in advance.

flash isn't really the appropriate term, but that's what commonly used. Most phones cannot actually be "flashed" to cricket because there is only Cricket firmware for phone Cricket has sold.

anyways, all you need to do is load prl onto phone and change the spc to "000000". Procure the correct cable, and a copy of Diego and it should be very easy.

edit: i forgot why i passed on this post the first time, but you'll need a real OS. cant you run bootcamp on your mac?

Well, I tried it with Diego on a PC, and apparently it doesn't like any PRL I throw at it. Is there any way to completely reset the phone to the way it was out of box?
