how to succesfully jailbrake iphone?plzzzzzz help!!!?

well,im planning on buyin an iphone on tuesday from my friend,but i dont want to buy the plan from cingular,is there a way to jailbreak the iphone to work with like a prepaid go phone sim card?if yes plz explain it step by step..
when the iphone is jail broken, can i still use the internet using wifi and can i use the ipod and other tools?plz help me
