how to stop bronchial spasms

13 yr son having bronchial spasms for 7 days, taking Singular 5mg., 60 mg. Prednisone, nebs 4-5 times a day, Duradryl to dry up mucus (not working) no sleep for past 3 nites - at ER last nite - say its viral - any suggestions to stop spasms would be appreciated.
 
I'll give you an old wives' remedy. Poour a little campho-phenique on a hankie or kleenex. Have him hold that in front of his nose as he sleeps - just lay down with it in his hand, on the pillow, in front of his nose. It's really soothing to the lungs. I use it as a cough preventer when I have a cold.
