How to stop a 1 year old from whining?

I'm keeping my friend's children overnight and she has a 1 year old that whines constantly. She only does this when neither of her parent's are around. The thing is, I volunteered to keep them since my friend and her husband haven't had a night alone since they had kids. I was very understanding about the situation because the same goes for me and my husband. I'm not complaining at all, I just want to know if anyone can gives suggestions to calm a whiny baby. a 1yr old cant color a book u moron....idk where ur finding ur 1yr old but sounds like stewie on family guy.

the baby is probably suffering separation anxiety so u just have to keep them occupied, i no its hard coz i have a 1yr old but just give them something to do, let her have a bath or put on a dvd or go and read to her, idk exactly wat will work with this child coz they r all different but just try a few things n c wot works
