I have a 1967 Ford mustand with a 351 windser motor. what should i do to start it. when i put it away im pretty sure i drained the fuel tank

pull plugs shoot wd forty in the holes for 30 seconds while waiting for it to soak remove all fuel from tank add fresh gas say 5 gallons or so disconnect the hose off the fuel pump line coming from the fuel tank and let it drain till you have clean gas, while your at it spray the carburetor with WD 40 around the linkages, reconnect gas lines and disconnect coil wire, drop motor oil and new oil 10/40 Castro GTX add a new oil filter then crank the car over with out the plugs in it to build oil pressure once you have pressure install plugs put wires back on and check that the throttle plate works and step on the gas pedal to make sure everything is freed up if it is hold throttle down to the floor do not pump cause the carb gaskets and rubbers are going to be dry, then once it starts let it run for a couple of minutes then shut it off and see if there are any leaks if none then suggest changing antifreeze at this time and then fire her up and take her for a short spin around the block, if she seems ok after checking once again fol leaks go for a couple miles and back. This will allow the bearings to get lubricated before start up. Now drive it but take it for Short trips for the first couple of days, many things could happen like a sticking float in the carburetor, engine seal start leaking hoses cracking from old age once back up to heat range after a long sit. rubber rots so watch the heater hoses and the raditore hoses for cracks or leaks and air up the tire. Hope this helps. this should keep you from damaging the engine on the dry start and if the carb has a stuck float it could fill a cylinder with gas before it starts thats why you crank it with out the plugs in it.

You'll need to clean out the entire fuel system and rebuild the brakes system..to get the motor running change the oil and then crank it over with the plugs out and oil the cylinders to spread the oil, then fill the carb bowls with the same 2 stroke mix 1/50

well i would add gas and make sure the battery is charged then make sure there are enough fluids in it. and try and start it
