I am a beginning dancer and I have been trying to learn how to spot when turning. I know the concept of whipping your head around but i just can't seem to do it. How do i know if i'm doing it right?
Also, how to stay balanced when doing pirouettes and PKs and how to spin multiple times? Tips and suggestions would be appreciated(:

well, you first got to not think about it as "whipping your head around" ok?
and then just make sure your head is the last thing to leave the spot and the first thing to come back.
when im in my studio i like to use bright neon colored post-it notes.
it really works for me.
and when learning pirhouettes ad PKs you need to work on keeping your balance first, dont try to whip out multiple turns because in the long run that will hurt you because your technique will suck.
so what can really help you is to go into a releve' and keep a parallel passe and close your eyes, keep your balance, and focus left to right.
it sounds soooo dumb, but it really worked for me =]
i hope you achieve what you want out of dance.
byee!
