how to setup the buzzers for buzz quiz tv?

i just got BUZZ! Quiz Tv for x-mas. I put in the game, it told me to plug in the adapter thingy. SHowed me the steps to turn on the controller and then it said to hit the buzz button. I hit the buzz button but it didn't go to the next screen. How do you set up the buzzers correctly?
