How to setup neat image definition in my new Sony Bravia EX4?

I recently bought a new Sony Bravia EX4 which is a Full HD TV. Im using Cable signal which explains why im not able to get HD on my tv, but the image im getting is terrible, blurry and dark. I could change the image settings such as color, brightness, etc manually but it never turns out good.
