how to reset temperature on panasonic air conditioner?

Hi everyone, I have a panasonic air con in my house and I am wondering if anyone knows how to reset the remote control. Sometimes when the temp is adjusted on the remote it doesnt register but when the kids change it, they dont realise it hasnt changed and continue changing the temp. When I do it and the air con doesnt beep in recognition i change it back and start again. I have the temp set on 18 degrees today and although we have a 40 deg day, the room does not seem to be cooling. I think the remote must be out. I have searched thru the operating instructions but there is nothing to tell me how to reset anything. The air con is about 10 years old. Please if anyone has any ideas on how to do this I would appreciate it. As it is saturday afternoon I am unable to contact panasonic for advice, Have been to there website but no info is available for my model which is CS-1873KE
