How to recover my xbox live account on another xbox 360 system?

Ok, i have an xbox 360 Elite with my live account set up on it.
I want a different 360 system like the premium.

But will i lose my gamertag with my yearly paid gold membership?? Or is the membership on the gamertag or the console itself?

hopefully that makes some sense :)
