how to preserve checkbox status on pagination in php?

i need to remember my checkbox status on pagination. for example: in 1st page i checked a checkbox and i moved on 2nd and when i return back to the 1st page the checkbox that i was already checked is unchecked. for form submission i need to preserve the checkbox status. so pls help me...
