I have a stereo on my boat that i want to play my ipod through (it is the same set-up as a car just the components are water-proof). Since there is no 3.5 mm aux jack i had to hook up my ipod to the rca jacks on the back of the head unit (i know this should work because my friend has the same set up). It is able to play some music at a very low volume but does not send music to the front to speakers. The main problem is i cant find a aux setting on the head unit so it only plays through while on the radio or CD setting and both the radio/CD and the ipod sends music to the speakers.

that's because on most head units the RCA jacks are output .....and designed to go to amps...ur back feeding a signal to the unit and getting some volume...even on head units "with" RCA input it is line input so therefore has no volume control which will give u low or muted volume....

go buy a Fm modulator and see if that works better it should and they only run about 20-30 bucks....but u will have to have a power source

otherwise u will need to run and amp and or equalizer to the input RCA jacks.......

so ur best bet would b to buy another head unit with audio jack for ipod
