How to pay for diabetes medicine with no insurance?

My boyfriend has type 1 diabetes and has no medical insurance. He has diabetic neuropathy. He doesn't have a job and they recently changed his insulin kind and it all costs like 400 dollars a month and he cant afford it and has ran out. We were just in the hospital because of his high sugar. He even buys over the counter insulin and doesnt have a diabetic doctor. I was wondering if there was any help out there. Thanks
