how to: paint my own bicycle?

i have a nice old schwinn road bike that was recently converted to a fixed gear, everything looks great except for the paint job...i was hoping to get a few tips on how to do the job myself, cheap if possible. thanks.
 
I would get super tuff and ruff sanding paper and sand the old paint off the frame. Buy krylon spray paint and coat it your self. You can also use car paint. After put a couple of coats of krylon clean coat. Let it dry. Each day for 6 days put coats of that clear coat.

That tool is good for getting paint to distribute well. Remenber to wetsand on the metal. you want the metal and paint to bond. If its all smoth it will be harder for the paint to stick.
 
now dont spray paint it. that makes it look like sh*t! just leave it how it is, or get a professional to do it.
 
Well, I assume that you can probably just strip the old paint off (either chemically or maybe by sanding it off) and then just use a glossy spray paint suitable for metal. Just disassemble the bike as much as possible, and you can cover bits that are too difficult to take off with painters tape (or newspaper, plastic bags, etc. sealed around the edges with painters tape).
 
first got to stip everything off it you dont want painted for some thines vasiline works then light sand it buy 2 cans at wal mart the color of your choice paint the frame alone hanging with a coat haner from the roof of garage let it dry a day or 2 put it back together
 
remove all the parts off of what needs to be repainted
get a sander or grinder or sand paper if your not lazy
get the paint off until you see the shinny silver
go homedepot and buy the expensive spray paints
the cheap ones chip off sometimes
spray it on, let it dry in a clean place with no dust in the air because it sticks on and doesn't come off
wait around 2 days and put it back together
 
Go out and buy cans of spray pain of the color you want the bike to be and spray paint the bike. Make sure you do it in your garage or outside so the fumes can waft away. Also make sure that you are wearing gloves and old clothes so it doesn't matter if you accidentally paint yourself. Don't forget a mask so you don't inhale the fumes.
