WHO AM I???

I bought a cheap laminate or veneer desk by Sauder a few years back from Staples. The desk has been looking worse and worse and now i can see the MDF or fiberboard underneath the layer of laminate. The cheap desk is still in good shape, just a few holes and dings. I want to paint it white, but i need the exact steps to do it. Do i need to sand it and prime it? Disassemble it? I already filled in the holes with wood filler. Thanks for the help.
