How to mingle at a party...?

I'm a grade 11 going to a senior party, and I'll only know 3 people there.
My boyfriend is going as well, and he said that I have to mingle cause he's not spending the whole night with me.

How can I strike up conversations with drunk seniors?? I've always been shy...
What should I do to get them to actually talk to me?
