How to meet people at a seven day camp?

I'm going to a new camp this year alone. I'm very shy and am not sure how to talk to people and meet them. What do I do?
 
be yourself
everyone is probably just as nervous as you are
be friendly
use your instincts-stay away from those that might not make good friends
the 7 days will fly by so do not worry
take a book with you-if you are bored or want to hide
smile-honey attracts a lot more bees than vinegar(frown)

Hey! I was in a very similar experiance last summer at a guard camp, and ended up hiding away in my cabin until the last three days where I made friends and then wished the camp to last longer :(
Dont resort to hiding away! Take a walk around, and at mealtimes ask if you can sit with people that interest you. Just have fun, and dont forget to smile!
