I am just starting out in insurance sales, selling Life and Health. The Health lines geared towards a senior market... In the old days, you would cold call, door- knock and do those sort of things... More and more people are using the internet to get internet quotes, but those leads are shared and usually low quality. (Your own leads generated by your site- as you know- takes a lot of time and work to start building traffic.)
Using newer telemarketing techniques, coming right out to say what you are and asking if they are interested and if not hanging up, rather than argue and using aged leads, what would be a good moderate cost method that you have successfully used or you think one could use in this economy?
I will have about 2k to market with, have experience telemarketing and very strong sales skills. I know the business takes time to develop, but where would my time and money be best spent to get off to a strong start?
Thank you all for any help. Please do not tell me cold knocking/walking is where it's at. lol.
Finally a bit of philosophy... IS cold calling dead? Should it be dead? Should sales people rely on newer marketing methods? Is aggressive objection busting still where the gold is or is a consumer- centric style better now? Or is the answer in the middle? Are all the new- fangled sales techniques like permission based closing for sissy's or will it lead to higher quality sales, referrals and loving customers?
This last part is more for fun and interest... I think the philosophy of sales is fascinating.
