how to make your picture all black and white but one thing?

[shhh!, i cnt tell!]

i downloaded this thing called picasa and it looks cool and all... but i have no idea how to use it!! i tried to look for the thing were you make it all black and white but one colour. my pic was already in black and white but i didnt know how to turn anything in a different colour. can anyone help me????
