How to make your lights flash to the base of music? ?

Does any one know how i can make my rope light flash to the base beat of my music in my house. I have one strand of rope light and just want it to flash on and off to the base of my music, does any one know how to hook it up to my stereo or what would i need to buy so i can do this? and at a cheep price =)
