How to make the picture on Samsung ST550 camera clearer? what settings?

I have the Samsung ST550 camera and its not very clear when the picture shows. Its 12.2 mega pixels, and my old camera that was only 8.2 was WAY clearer. I'm wondering if I change any settings, will it turn clearer? I lost my instruction booklet... so if there are settings what do i set them to? thanksss :)
