How to make the leap into more advanced/professional photography?

I have been taking photos for years and have a very good eye for composition. I have never been great with the technical aspects but now I have a good DSLR and have improved a lot just from reading the manual. I'd like to take my photography "to the next level" and maybe start a small side business. I just don't know where to start! I know I need more equipment and some more training but I can't find anything beyond very basic classes in my area. Any suggestions? Thanks
