How to make my iPhone 3gs go straight to voicemail/avoid the call?

How can i get my phone to go straight to voicemail or elsewhere making it look like im busy?

I dont want to have to put it on silent/ ignore the call cos that makes me look like im deliberately avoiding the call...

Is there a setting I can go into that makes it divert after a couple of rings?
