How to make midi melodies to make my homemade techno music more interesting?

I just wrote some cool techno songs on my guitar, and recorded them with a 4 track, using a drum machine to keep the beat. Now i need to add a little bit of synth melodies to them. I am wondering if anyone knows where to start with midi files. (I lack access to a real keyboard)
