How to log into my linksys router with Verizon fios on same login ip address?

I have Verizon fios as my Internet carrier. Their wireless modem/router sucks I get no wifi in the upstairs of my house. So I pulled out my old linksys router/modem went to log in using 192.168.1.1 hard wired but to my not surprised face Verizon modem/router login page opens. Does anyone know how I can get to my linksys router when their on the same ip address. I've tried the login using other ip adress but no good I tried not having my router hook to the net no good called Verizon to see of they can change their ip address nope I can't get to my Verizon router easily for its in the junction box and help would be great for my linksys wifi is unlock for the world to use n see
