How to keep an old cat away from Fish?

I just got a 3 gallon aquarium with a filter and lid. (no fish yet) And my cat keeps on jumping on it to drink the water from the filter is there something I could put over it that looks halfway decent to keep him out. IDK y but he loves water and I need to solve this problem before I get a fish. Oh and I forgot to put that every time he knocks the lid into the aquarium.
