how to jailbreak and unlock iphone 3g running on iOS 4.1?

I accidentally updated my buds iPhone 3G that was jailbroken to 4.1 via iTunes, now it won't recognize the SIM card (different carrier) and I cannot find a tool for jailbreaking it and unlocking it on 4.1. Help?
