How to improve my sprint.?

Hello guys,I've been wondering lately.How come I managed to be the first one in 1KM run,yet in a 60meter sprint I was about the 5th or the 4th one with the best record.I came to a conclusion that my body is used for a slower running.Now since 1KM is considered for me a short distance run,comparing to my daily jogs(I usually jog 3km-9km at most and each jog as at least one decent hill and sometimes even a few).I don't know if it's my reflexes that made me do a worse score on a 60meter sprint,or my muscles and the way my body is built(so if anyone can point that out I'll be thankful).Anyway I started yesterday doing a different kind of training,where I do a normal jogging and than sprint for a few seconds.And than do a normal jogging again and the whole process goes on until I finish my jog.Now my question is it a good way to improve my sprinting capability,or my fast twitch muscles?
I also do pull ups and clap push ups after each jog.

If it helps I'm 14 years old.
