how to ground a ballast ??? fish tank Canopy ?

I just bought a ready to use shop light and took it apart and mounted it on my wood fish tank canopy. their were 2 wires that were screwed together on the medal fixture ( to ground it ) .. And now i dont know how to ground those two wires beacuse EVERYTHING is mounted on my WOOD canopy. what should i do ?>
the two wires had a medal cirle at the end of them... one cirle was over the other cirle and they were screwed down, on the fixture
