How to go to BIA - Bangalore International Airport (by bus/car/..)?

I want to travel from BTM area to Bangalore International Airport early in the morning.

Where can i get a bus for this?
Do i need to buy ticket in advance?
What if i miss the bus? What are the alternatives.

I have seen the redbus.in website, need information from people who have travelled.
