I live in Bay area, California. I'm planning to move from the current apartment by end of this month. I discussed about my date of moving with my new resident manager in the beginning of this month. After that we discussed about formalities of walk through and security deposit etc...but in the last moment he told me that I had to give written notice otherwise I have to pay 30 days rent. It's too late for me to give 30 days written notice as I already paid deposit and ready to move to the new location. I'm going through lot of personal issues and it's going to be very difficult to pay additional amount. How can I get around this issue to avoid the additional charges? Please advice.....

You generally can't unless you and the landlord come to agreement.

30 days written notice to vacate is the norm for both tenant and landlord. Check your lease, but I believe I am right.
