they've been eating through everything in our attic so we've been trapping them and driving to a forest 4-6 miles away and dropping them off. is there any other way we can get them out of our attic? our house is really old so we cant really fix it up that well. we don't want to hurt them or anything either. they're just being pests so we need them out.
isn't there anyway we can continue doing what we're doing? how far do we have to take them away for them to not come back?

Get yourself a doggy friend who LIKES squirrels. The squirrels are not dumb and will learn quickly that your house is not a good place to be. Might have a couple that die before the rest figure it out - but better than having to kill them all. Cats in the attic will do the same trick there. They will move on hopefully.
Good luck with this.

squirrels are just a rat with a furry tail, they can do untold damage in the attic. You need to close up access holes with wood or steel screening.Oil of mustard seed can be used as a deterrent they don't like the smell. As for driving them far away 40to 50 miles is the best 4 miles they will be back in a few days.Never put a cat or dog in your attic to deter them.

get a .22 or a big dog or I KNOW get a uhh... lil tub of antifreeze n put it up there. lil suckers will drink that sweet shit n die. thats how i took care of my neighbors cat lol

If you have squirrels in you attic I would call in professional help, this is a safety issue. Squirrels like to chew things like electrical wiring plastic water pipes etc. And then you really should make an attempt to plug up the holes the squirrel is are coming in through
