How to get smoke smell out of yarn?

I bought a lot of various yarns on ebay, only to find that they reek of cigarette smoke when they arrived. What's a good quick way to get the smokey smell out of the yarn? Many don't have labels so I don't know if they can be washed or need to be dry-cleaned. I've been trying to air them out outside but it hasn't really worked

febreze that sh*t! :) seriously, though, it's like any other material. if you can sit it outside and let it air out, that would probably be more natural, however, febreze does the job and doesn't smell like a cover smell.

also: it may help if you unravel it from the spool. this could be a mess, but would let more air touch more of the fabric.
