Bicycle rust?

If it is a cheapie bicycle:
If it is a chrome bike you can mix a bunch of WD-40 and really fine sand together, and wipe the rusty spots down with it on a rag. (you can omit the sand, but it will take longer without it; or use scotch brite cloth or steel wool) The wd-40/sand mix will will remove the rust sort of like using a wirebrush or scratch cloth, and the wd40 will prevent it from rusting again. I spray down the metal parts with wd40 on occasion to keep it from rusting also. Really any oil will work; i just happen to use wd-40.

If it is a painted bike, you'll have to remove the rust with elbow grease, and repaint it.

If it is a motorcycle, or expensive bicycle; i'd get special products.

BTW: if the frame is steel and rusting, get an aluminum bike next time; but this works well on rims.

Do a small inconspicuous area first before doing the whole bike.
