This may sound a little strange, but here it goes. I'm kind of afraid of the gym, partially because of my age and partially because the people there are d-bags, and I've had bad encounters with people there in the past. Also, though I've hit puberty in a few ways, I still don't feel like when I use the weights, I gain any muscle, so I always feel like an idiot with the 8 pounders in each hand on the bench, while all these buff guys watch on as I use "their" bench. I want to switch over to 24 hour fitness, but will it really be much different? I'm not in great shape, a good amount of tub around the midriff, and I have asthma, so running is always strenuous for me. I really just want to be left alone at the gym, and allowed to do my own thing without anyone bothering me or me feeling self-conscious. Has anyone else had this experience? I need to lose this weight and I want to do it feeling confident in myself. Thanks
