How to get my tax return money in Australia ?

I worked in Coles, Supermarket when i was a student in Sydney. I finished my studies and left the country for work. I did not get my Group Certificate (I dont know the exact name of this certificate, but its the one you get from your employer detailing the amount of tax you paid in a year and the amount of days or hours you worked.)from my Employer. I tried calling them over and over again but i was told that it might have been lost in the mail. I am visiting Australia again this July, can someone pls tell me if there is any way to still file for my tax return and get the money, since its a matter of almost $3000. Or is the money gone since its been almost one year?
Some Details.
I left Sydney, Australia last June 2007.
I am not an Australian Citizen or PR.
I was working on a student Visa (20 Hrs a week).
I am going to Australia for one month in July 2008. Is this enough time to all the needful

Please let me know if there is any authority i can contact through which this can be done.
