How to get my steam games to download faster?

I have been trying to download Cod4 again on my computer off steam. The problem is it is going at 9.5 kb/s. The very first time i download Cod4 it went up to a 1.1mb. My internet connection is excellent. What should i do?
 
Make sure who ever your sharing ur enternet with is not on. turn off all the things that take some speed like limewire. Sometimes u have to get it lik 2mins to start up faster...
 
Give it time. Chances are since the last time you downloaded it you downloaded a whole bunch of other files on your computer. COD 4 is a big game which requires a lot of memory. I would just wait it out. Be patient and don't lose your cool!
