mins a day....? but with no results. I still have a huuuge tummy. I want to get rid of my stomach area, like the place below the navel, but all the exercise is only getting me a four pack ABOVE my navel. even if i just drink a bottle of water, my tummy looks huge. I'm 110 pounds and 5'6''. help!!

Honestly, as hard as it is to believe, ab exercises don't do as much for your abs as you would think. There are many supporting muscles that must be worked to stretch your skin in a way that causes your abs to show up more. The thing to remember is that your ab muscles are there no matter what; it's a combination of ab and other exercises that will make them show up more.

One thing that I would recommend which has helped me is the full, weighted squat. You'll need access to a rack with a barbell and a lot of weights, and will need to make sure that when you go down your legs bend parallel to the floor.

The full squat works out almost every major muscle group, and will work a lot of those muscles in your back and sides, as well as your core, and will work to make your abs protrude in the way you want them to.

I'd recommend looking into Mark Rippetoe's workout program; you can find his routine various places for free online and it is what I use.

When it comes to toning the muscles, working the specific areas is great. But when it comes to losing weight, it's very hard to target a certain spot. Bodies can be fickle, and burn calories where they want to.

I'd suggest trying reverse crunches (pulling the legs up instead of sitting up.) If you don't throw your hips into it, they're great for working the lower abs. Lifting your legs a bit (don't bend the knees, and don't lift too high) while lying on your back is good too. You ought to be able to really feel those lower abs working.

All that being said... 110 sounds like a more than trim weight for someone your height. Careful. Focus on developing those muscles, and not losing pounds. Think fit and lean.

Crunches do absolutely nothing unless your stomach is flat.

What you're doing when you do crunches is strengthening your abdomen. However, you cannot see your abdomen, can you? So your time would be better spent doing more cardio.

Believe it or not, doing 10 crunches burns 1 single calorie.
You burn 2 calories doing crunches each night. That's like half of a french fry.

Running and biking are what you need to keep doing! And drink lots of water. Over 10 cups per day. The more the better! Good luck.

EDIT: Wait.. I just read 5"6' 110 lbs...... how is there any fat? I think your problem might be that your body is storing water in that area. How much water do you drink per day? Drink ONLY WATER for about a week. At least 10 cups per day and then see if anything has changed after a week. You'll be peeing a lot but that means it's flushing all the old water stored in your belly area out. Eventually your body will get used to the water intake.

When you do your crunchs, add a twist to the left and right before you go back down (or twist to one side each time you come up, switching each time). That will help tune up your side muscles, helping to tighten the stomache. 5'10" and 110? You must be a rail. Are you sure you aren't being overly critical?
