How to get a job in the Action Sports Industry?

I'm graduating this year and would really like to get a job in the action sports industry. I am an Industrial and Operations Engineer at the University of Michigan with a 3.0 GPA and a ton of leadership experience. I have held two previous internships; one as a branch manager in a painting business and the other as a finance intern at Trico products. It seems that in order to get a job in the business you have to know someone inside. I unfortunately am from a small town in michigan and really don't know anyone who works for these companies. From what I understand it may not be possible to get my dream job out of college but I would at least like to have a direction of where to go after school. If anyone has some tips I would really appreciate it!
