how to function and adjust an Advocet 25 bicycle speedometer?

got one from my brother with no manual or directions. it's currently set in km - want to switch to miles. also doesn't seem to be connecting, but it's on so i don't think that there is a battery problem. also, what do all of the letters on the left side of the screen mean?
