How to fix TV edging using HDMI with laptop.?

Is there a way to fix the edging of my TV when I use it with my laptop HDMI out as a second monitor. I'm not getting a full screen usage on my 1080p 32" Samsung and there is a black edging about an inch wide. The resolution also sucks and it is hard to read the screen even up close. I'm using windows 7. 1gb of ATI Radeon.
